CAD WORKSHOP ORGANISED BY MESA
Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA) on 11th November 2016 organized a CAD talk facilitated by CITECH (Centre for Innovative Technology). CITECH is a certified Autodesk training and certification center. The main aim of the workshop was to enlighten students on the advancements in CAD design features. These new features enable students to become more effective design engineers due to the advancement in virtual assembly, testing and product life-cycle determination. The new era of cloud computing also give student interact, learn and collaborate with engineers from across the globe in large scale projects such the famous overhaul of the turbines in Nigeria which saved the company $3M . Cloud computing also enables users to process heavier commands that were initially not possible on their computers.
Other aspects of engineering design such as building information modelling (BIM) and project logistics were also introduced to mechanical engineering students for the first time. This gave them the option of choosing between different aspects of mechanical engineering e.g. Product design, plant maintenance and repair, HVAC systems, water delivery and drainage in building sector and virtual testing and evaluation of designs for research.
MESA in collaboration with the department of mechanical engineering and key industry players is organizing a training program that will equip the students with above mentioned CAD skills.
