SMALL SCALE MECHANIZED STONE CRUSHER: ENERGY REQUIREMENT IN THE CRUSHING PROCESS

ABSTRACT:

This project sought to carry out the literature survey on small scale mechanized jaw crusher and determine the amount of energy required in the crushing process. To obtain the energy required, the crusher parameters such as the amount of power used, the jaw crusher capacity and the rate of material flow in the crushing chamber was involved. The study involved the work of Rose and English, Andersen and Napier Munn and Taggart on how to predict the energy requirements of a jaw crusher. This is based and dependent on the material’s physical and mechanical properties. It furthermore proves the allowable formulae is the one based on Bond’s work index. According to Rose and English the calculation of throughput is dependent on the surface characteristics.
For a set of crusher sizes and set openings, the calculation obtained from the work of rose and
