The RAE-UNIP Project,domiciled in the department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering,hosted a Professional Development Workshop at the Utali Hotel on 11th and 12th October, 2018. The Workshop was officially opened by the Principal, CAE Prof. Peter M Ngau accompanied by the Chairman of the Department, Prof. Julius Maima Ogola.

RAE-UNIP is part of a larger Project "Quality Engineering Education Through University-Industry Partnerships in Eastern and Southern Africa". The latter is funded by UK's Royal Academy of Engineering, (RAE) and aims at improving the quality of Engineering education in the region by creating close links between Universities and local Industries. The program activities involve secondment of Engineering lecturers to work and gain practical experience in Industry for a given period of time.

During the two day Workshop, the Lecturer-Interns from South Africa, Namibia, Ethopia and Kenya, shared the lessons they learnt from their period in various industries. The Kenyan industries involved in the project (East African Portland Cement Co, Kenya Power International, SONY Sugar Co and Apex Steel) also sent representatives who gave presentations on their experiences.
