The department of Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries will hold a 5 day training of young scientists and engineers on conventional and non-conventional welding processes - arc welding- laser and laser hybrid welding - underwater welding at the university of Nairobi.

The training will be conducted from Monday 5th to 9th of June, 2023 at University of Nairobi tower 4th floor room 404. 

During the launch of the training, a gift was presented to the university of Nairobi by Amb. Mohanad Salah Ladjouzi, the Ass. Secretary General of the League of Arab States and Director General of AFTAAC on behalf of the Secretary General Amb. Ahmed Aboul Gheit. It was received by Prof. Ayub Gitau, the dean of the faculty of engineering on behalf of the vice chancellor Prof. Gitahi Kiama. During the launch of the training program, it was emphasized of the need for such engagements for benefits of university students and the society as a whole.

Also in attendance was the chairman of the department of mechanical and manufacturing engineering Eng. Dr. Kenneth D. Njoroge, Mrs. Sherin Imam, Minister Plenipotentiary, Head of Operations of the Arab Fund for Technical Aid for African Countries, Dr. Khalid Alkathiri, Head of League of Arab States Mission in Nairobi and Amira Moheddin from the Arab States Mission.

The training will be conducted by visiting professor, Prof. Abdel-Monem El-Batahgy of the Central Metallurgical Research Institute, Egypt and a certificate of participation will be issued at the end.
