The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering is proud to have emerged as the 3rd best teaching department in the University of Nairobi’s 2023/2024 Performance Contracting (PC) evaluation exercise. This marks a significant improvement from previous years and was met with celebration across the department. The achievement was formally recognized during the Annual Staff Recognition and Awards Ceremony held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at the Chandaria Auditorium. The event celebrated exemplary contributions to teaching, research, innovation, and community service. The Department of Food Science and the Department of Medical Microbiology took the first and second positions respectively, while the Faculty of Engineering, under which the department operates, was recognized as the second-best performing faculty overall.
The Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Verkooijen, used the occasion to outline an ambitious reform agenda aimed at positioning UoN as the top university in Africa within two years. He emphasized the importance of unity and performance-driven transformation. Other university leaders, including Prof. Jesang Hutchinson (Vice-Chancellor, Ag.) and Prof. Amukowa Anangwe (Chair of Council), echoed the need for continued excellence and strategic focus. They commended staff across the university for their dedication, noting the improved performance compared to previous years. This milestone for the Department of Mechanical Engineering reflects its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and impactful collaboration. We extend heartfelt congratulations to all staff and students whose hard work made this achievement possible.
