0n 25th July, 2024, third year students visited the port of Kisumu as part of the ongoing fourth term exercise. The visit is meant to give the students a first hand practical experience of the concepts they learn in the classroom.
Students also learn about the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in the industry and are able to have a better insight into various career options available in the mechanical engineering field and interact with professionals to understand different roles and responsibilities.
The final year students from the department of mechanical engineering on 14th of June went for an industrial visit to KCC Dandora Complex. The visit was organized by Forbes Marshall and is part of a training on steam plants aimed at equipping students with practical skills and knowledge on boiler and steam plant technologies and their application in industries with a view of preparing them for the job market.
The University has continuously been organizing a Compassion Day to support our Needy Students which is in line with the University’s core value of ‘Care.
In line with this, the faculty of engineering compassion week committee organized a compassion week scheduled to take place from 27th May to 5th June to seek both internal and external support for needy students.

On Thursday 23rd May 2024, Representatives from Forbes Marshall visited the department of Mechanical Engineering where they held a full day training on steam and boiler plants applications in the industry. The training targeted students in their final academic year and members of staff.
The Directorate of Corporate Affairs has partnered with the Training Centre in Communication(TCC Africa), the first African-based training centre to teach effective communication skills to scientists for a HYBRID training on Science Communication and Communicating to Non-Scientists on Thursday, 18th April, 2024 at 9.00 am.

This week, MESA and the department of Mechanical Engineering organized a mentorship talk for engineering students by visiting professor from India Institute of Technology Prof. Prabhu Rajagopal on RESEARCH AND INNOVATION PERSPECTIVES. In attendance were the Dean, and Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering Prof. Ayub Gitau and Dr. Thomas Ochuku respectively.
Also in attendance were the chairman of the department of Mechanical Engineering Eng. Dr. Kenneth Njoroge and Dr. Wanjiku Mumenya, faculty member from department of Civil Engineering.
